Our History

ASMAM AID is Community based Non-governmental organization that was formed based on vulnerable communities empowerment needs by group of intellectuals voluntarily. It operates on a not for profit making basis with principles and philosophy aimed at effectively reaching its vision, mission and core values.

ASMAM AID was formed in 20TH March 2020 by a group of intellectuals, and other important stakeholders who include; elders, minority groups, women, youth and persons with disabilities who met to discuss the situation of the vulnerable communities and established this local NGO working on humanitarian activities throughout Mandera County, Kenya and to respond to the many unique to these vulnerable communities in this Mandera County, Kenya that includes displacement caused by inter-clan conflicts as a result of insufficient grazing pastures and water that led toprolong drought and famine in our Mandera County.

Our Objectives

  • To launch and Development Humanitarian Construction and renovation operation and services
  • Make awareness on the importance of construction and renovation to the society through community mobilization
  • Promote staff training and community mobilization on how to fight and overcome the misuse and destruction of community properties.
  • Ensure and control community implemented projects misused in the terms of destruction.
  • Promoting transparency, fair, integrity, justice, equal gender and accountability to the vulnerable community through construction of proper buildings with high quality in latest design.
  • To reduce the hazards poor quality design that faces to the community through mobilization, training to minimize the risk of the current poor quality construction which will face to the community population
  • To struggle and make change to current situation of the misuse of the community project
  • To create income generation activities to the destitute part of the societies inemploying the jobless casual laborers
  • To construct good looking premises for the community.
  • To provide good quality constructions with latest design. 

ASMAM AID will respect the following ideologies: –

  • Humanity: Human suffering must be addressed wherever it is found, with particular attention to the most vulnerable populations such as children, women, the disabled and the elderly. The dignity and rights of all victims must be respected and protected.
  • Neutrality: Humanitarian assistance must be provided without engaging in hostilities or taking sides in controversies of a political, religious, or ideological nature.
  • Impartiality: Humanitarian assistance must be provided without discriminating by ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political opinions, race, or religion. Humanitarian relief must be guided solely by needs and the rights of the people affected by emergencies.
  • Respect for human rights: We are devoted to respect person’s fundamental human rights and believe that all people are born free and equal in dignity and rights. We are also very sensitive to the moral values, religious beliefs and cultural practices of the different communities we serve.
  • Responsibility: Asmam Aid is entrusted with responsibilities to the public, takes ownership of the task at hand by initiating and proactively pulling together resources in order to find and implement feasible solution.
  • Accountability: We are accountable for our actions and decisions, primarily to the community we serve and similarly to donors, the government, staff, board, partner organizations and the public at large.
  • Truthfulness: We are truthful in our dealing with donors, project beneficiaries, staff, members, government and the general public. Any information given should be accurate whether regarding in itself and its project, individual, organizations, project or data on different locality and reality
  • Transparency: We are transparent in all of our actions and dealing with the government, the public, donors, partner organizations, the beneficiary communities and interested parties. We are determined to protect human rights, basic financial information, governance structure, activities and accessible to public scrutiny and we inform the public about our work and the origin and use of the resources we manage.
  • Participation: We are always steadfast in involving beneficiary groups to the maximum possible in the design, implementation, evaluation, ownership and future sustainability of projects and programs.
  • Gender sensitivity: We are determined to advocate against gender based violence and discrimination to be able to bring about greater equality of opportunity, taking into account the cultural and contextual realities.
  • Professional Integrity: To maintain our integrity as a professional LNGO, we operate as not-for profit organization, with surplus generated through our operation be utilized solely to help the organization fulfill its vision mission and objectives.
